This was the first botanic garden to be devoted to a country's indigenious flora with now over 7000 species. A recent addition is the tree top canopy walkway which is amazing. It was here that rulers sent those they regarded as political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society. Phone: 021 780 9010 CAPE PENINSULA & POINT …over 19,000 acres of national park and 250 species of birds; get there early and share beaches with penguins and ostriches. If you don't fancy walking then ride the Flying Dutchman funicular to the final steps that lead you to the lighthouse. See baboons close up but keep you windows shut and do not feed. Phone: 021 424 0015 TABLE MOUNTAIN ...1087m high and over 60 million years old it's aiming to be one of the seventh natural wonders of the world. Table Mountain boasts 14000 species of flora and spectacular views of the city. If walking isn't for you then take the fishbowl shaped cable car (daily every 10-20minutes) that rotates a complete 360-degree rotation on its way to the top. Book online to jump the longer queues. Allow 1-2 hours and check to see if closed due to wind. Check website for cable car times which vary depending on season, approx. 8am - 7.30pm Annual maintenance on Cape Town’s Table Mountain Cableway happens in winter, so check their website for dates. Table Mountain	CAPE WINELANDS ...South Africa's wine industry is now the ninth largest in the world and began in the 17th Century. With over 200 wineries and constantly growing plus all within a day's drive of the city you are spoilt for choice. In fact the hardest decision will be who's going to do the driving! If you haven't got a hire car you can either join a group tour where a company will come and collect or arrange for a personal driver or simply stay over!
