AFRIKAANS LANGUAGE MONUMENT

Forgetting the symbolism and reasoning for this concrete edifice, that proudly looks down on the town of Paarl, this is an amazing piece of architecture. Definitely worth a small detour if traveling this way it feels like some 1970's futuristic set from The Planet of the Apes.

COMPANY GARDENS

A park and heritage site located in central Cape Town that was originally created in the 1650s by the region's first European settlers and provided fertile ground to grow fresh produce to replenish ships rounding the Cape. If you are exploring the city this is a great retreat from the bustle plus check out the same named restaurant.

OLD CAPE TOWN ZOO

Tucked between Rhodes Memorial and UCT you can drive past daily and never realise this was the site of the original city zoo that shut it's cages in 1975. Now overgrown you can simply walk through the old dried up crocodile canals and the giant Lion enclosure.

GREEN POINT PARK

A positive legacy that came out of the World Cup in 2010, reclaiming a section of the private golf course, this is a beautifully designed park. Perfect for kids on weekends the place is packed with families from all walks of life enjoying themselves, celebrating birthdays and events.
